Day Out With Thomas

For Christmas Stephanie gave our family tickets to go to a Day Out with Thomas at a nearby train station. He has been talking about it for the last week, and we went yesterday and had so much fun! We rode on Thomas and played with all sorts of Trains and met Sir Topemhat. Brody was so excited! His eyes were wide open looking around at everything and all the kids who were so happy. It was so cute to see him so into everything.

House Pictures

I have had some requests to show pictures of our house & our new car, so here are a few...

Easter Weekend

Grandma and Grandpa Burton flew out for a very fun weekend to see us and the house and to spend Easter. We took Brody to see Horton Hears a Who in a theatre called Studio Movie Grill. It is one of the funnest places we have found here so far - you go into the theatre and while you are watching your movie there are waiters serving you food. Pretty cool! I was just excited that Brody made it through the movie and was interested the entire time - we now have a new thing to do as a family. We spent some quality time at Lowes with the Burtons too. They'll let you know that we showed them four different local Lowes. Brandon and his dad spent time putting knobs and handles on all our cabinets (it took several trips to different Lowes to get the supplies we needed.) I love the knobs! Who knew something so minor makes such a big difference in the looks and function of a cabinet. We spent Saturday seeing different things in the area and doing some other shopping.

Sunday morning Brody found his Easter basket and Ella's too. He got a new Cars swimsuit and stickers and treats, and Ella got new hair bows. The Easter Bunny also brought Brody his very own potty. I had no idea what a big hit this would be. I thought we'd have it around for awhile before it saw much action, but Brody informed me today (while sitting on the potty) that he wasn't going to wear diapers any more. Works for me! I haven't thrown out the diapers yet - he hasn't yet put anything in the potty, but we thought as long as he is so interested we will give it a shot.

After church we had my mom and dad over for Easter dinner and our first Easter egg hunt in our back yard. Brody caught on pretty quick and ran around the yard collecting his eggs.

Monday we took the Burtons to the stockyards in Fort Worth. Theresa said that I shouldn't just call it the stockyards, because there isn't much "stock" - she said to say it is like a really old historical town with shops and a few cattle. It was fun, and we ate at Brandon's favorite steakhouse - Cattlemens. It was really fun for us to see family and be able to show them our house and the area.

Big Brother

Okay...I was prompted to write this after reading Lindsey's last entry about the funny things Avery is saying. Brody is really very sweet to Ella, but the other night we were eating dinner and Ella was fussy and starting to cry. He looks over at her and said, "Ella, I big brother...you knock it off!" We couldn't help but just crack up! It makes me feel a little bad, because he obviously has learned that from me saying it to him. We've had a bit of a problem lately with him not wanting to talk when he wants something - instead he just cries. I think it is a side effect of becoming a big brother (Ella cries and gets what she wants, so he does it too). Not fun for me - especially if I am running low on patience. So now we are trying to teach him that we don't say words like that to our sister. However, it is very hard to keep a straight face when he does it because it is so funny!

We Are In!

We are finally in our new house! We closed last Friday and moved in on Saturday. It has been so fun to unpack everything and put it all away and think about what we want to do to the house. Brody LOVES it. He runs all over saying "new house" and he is discovering all his toys that have been packed away. He played in the backyard for the first time and just ran around yelling "running crazy!" We got our TVs hooked up yesterday (in time for American Idol!) and then the internet got hooked up today. Yeah! I love feeling connected to the outside world!

Our new address is:

1601 Mary Lane
Providence Village, TX 76227

We should have a new phone number in a couple of days - if you'd like to have it email me and I will email you back. sarahburton81@gmail.com

Snow Storm!

I went to our house today for our final walk through and this is what I found! It started snowing at about 12:30 this afternoon and hasn't stopped yet. You can't tell where the snow stops and where our fence starts in the back yard. Texans are obviously not used to the weather as everyone stops and shuts down - everything! Schools, businesses, everything! We are tentatively scheduled to close on the house tomorrow, but the mortgage company and title company closed early and we aren't sure if they will come in tomorrow. I guess if the schools are closed they keep everything closed. We are still waiting for some written confirmations that additional repairs will be made before we sign the papers. I don't think the builder is happy with me. He asked my dad if we were attorneys! Cross your fingers and maybe we will have a house by the weekend.
This is the view of our front porch and our front yard. In the hour and a half we were there it must have snowed close to two inches. Crazy!!

Ella Smiles

Ella smiles all the time now. It is so fun to see her grow and develop a little personality of her own. She has round cheeks (as you can tell) - but her body is really long and skinny. We had her bundled up in several layers so it looks like she has football pads on, but she really is still pretty small (at least when I compare her to what her brother was at 2 months old!) And, she is starting to lose the hair she had when she was born, but it is already growing in totally blonde. You can see the shiny fuzz on her head. It is so fun to stick bows to her head!

Brody loves Ella and is WAY more interested in playing with her now (more than I would like a lot of the time). We find cars and toys in her bed with her a lot and he will try and pick her up or cover her (literally) with blankets. But, she has learned to take it and just keep sleeping and no one can make her smile like Brody and her Grandma. We all laugh because whenever my mom holds her she just lights up and smiles and coos. My mom says she is smart and knows who it is in their house who buys her fun things.

Crazy Weather & Cars

Okay, so nothing too exciting is happening here. We are still waiting for our house to be done. It is finished, and they would like us to close...but I am being ultra picky and want a few things re-done before I sign on the dotted line. So the kids and I remain house bound at my parents (for those who didn't know we sold a car before our move and are waiting until we close on the house to purchase a replacement). Brandon travels during the week with our car, so we don't get out much. The weather for the most part has been in the 50's and windy, so a bit too cold for me to just be outside. But, on Saturday we went out to do some errands and it was hot! We were peeling off layers of clothes, then Sunday it got freezing and rained, and then last night it snowed. We figured we'd see seasons, but we didn't know we could see them all in the same week! I'm running out of ideas to keep Brody occupied inside and he has finally opened himself up to watching movies. And, since mommy can only tolerate so much Thomas the Train, Grandpa went out and rented Cars for us to watch. Brody LOVED it! Now everything is Lightning McQueen and Mater. Its cute to hear him say the names in his two-year old english.
