We made it out of the house today...hooray! First we decided we'd surprise the kids and go see Santa at the mall. We waited in line for about 40 minutes (which I thought wasn't too bad) for the kids to get a chance to sit on his lap and tell him what they wanted. I think the elves were a little surprised to hear that our only intention was to visit with Santa and not pay a fortune for what would surely be a picture of my kids looking in two different directions than the camera. Plus, Santa was looking rather informal that day - wearing only a flannel shirt and suspenders...Im a classic "red coat Santa" photo-taker. Nonetheless, the kids were happy to have their moment and that is what mattered.
We spent the afternoon shopping for groceries to get us through the week and had a nice dinner at home. After dinner we loaded the kids up and drove to Frisco Square. This is where the library and city hall of Frisco is located and it is set up to have a down town type atmosphere. They have an amazing light show. They add to it every year, but you can see it from the toll road from a good distance away. Ella's response is "wow!" and I think Brody enjoyed it too, but was more looking forward to the train ride. We drove through the light show and we parked the car and got in line for the train ride and waited probably another 40 minutes to ride on a little train around the parking lot. I was SO cold. Even Brandon mentioned he wished he had a heavier jacket. Ella loved watching the horse drawn carriages go by. She'd wave at the horses and say "hi." Brody's thoughts were occupied by the train ride and how cold his hands were. Once we had our turn on the train we walked right back to the car and went home to get warm!
