Today was a very fun adventure! We went over to pick up Grandma and Grandpa this morning to go to the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. They decorate the resort with all sorts of Christmas decorations and they had fun stuff for the kids to see. Before we even left neighborhood Brody choked on a Christmas Tree shaped goldfish cracker and in the midst of clearing his throat he threw up. Kinda gross - but it really wasn't too bad for him...me on the other hand...it doesn't help my complex of thinking he will throw up every time we get in the car. Fortunately, I was prepared today with an extra shirt. Usually I carry pants and underwear, but today I was smart! We made a pit stop back at the grandparents house, cleaned up and tried again.
Brody and Daddy in Santa's workshop. The kids got to visit with Santa and we bought a picture - it is pretty cute. Brody was THRILLED to meet Santa and was sure to tell him everything he wanted for Christmas, he even put a request in for Ella. Ella sat with Santa for a picture and was just as serious and straight-faced as her brother was his first Christmas. She would not crack a smile, but she didn't scream either.

Brody got to drive the train! I asked him what Christmas would be for him without trains and the Polar Express...his response with a very tentative look was "I don't know."
They had a life-sized Gingerbread House decked out with all sorts of Christmas candy.
Brody was really excited to meet Mrs. Claus and Dasher the reindeer. We didn't buy an over-priced picture here...we just had resourceful Grandparents who staked out a good spot outside the pen.
Here is our family in front of one of the train displays. We've all decided that we'd like to stay a night there during Christmas just to see all the lights lit up in the atrium. They have an Ice exhibit in their convention center too that we would like to see. Hopefully they do it again next year. There are huge ice sculptures made and even a slide made out of ice that you can go down. The room is kept at 9 degrees and they let you borrow parkas while you go through.For the benefit of our CA friends and family: After we left the Gaylord Texan we went to Johnny B's (a burger place nearby). The family that started it moved to TX from CA and the only thing they missed was, of course, In and Out. The dad tried to buy a franchise and they wouldn't let him, so he decided to start his own. Same concept, very similar menu. The burgers were BETTER than In and Out (in my non-burger loving opinion). The meat, cheese and sauces were the same, you can order the same way (animal style, etc) BUT, the bun is more like a big Kings Hawaiian Roll. MMMMM. I love Hawaiian rolls! It was so yummy. Fries were similar too (fresh potatoes, handcut, not the best you've had but you eat them thinking they are better for you than "real" fries) and the malt was good too. So, fear not...even if we live far away we know now that Brandon won't die from lack of In and Out and, more importantly I won't dread going there with him.
